Uttar Pradesh: Woman dies while waiting in queue for procuring ration
A 35-year-old woman in UP's Badaun, who was waiting in a queue outside a ration outlet to procure rice, collapsed and died on the spot on Friday.

Agra: In a tragic case reported from Badaun in Uttar Pradesh, a 35-year-old woman, who was waiting in a queue at shop for procuring ration, collapsed and died on the spot on Friday. The incident took place within the limits of Kunwargaon Police Station.
Huge serpentine queue at ration outlet
According to the police, the deceased woman, identified as Shamim Bano, was a resident of Prahladpur village in Salarpur Block. On Friday afternoon, she went to a ration outlet for procuring rice. After arriving at the ration shop, she noticed a huge serpentine queue of people. Police stated that she waited for nearly three hours in the queue for her turn to get rice. Suddenly, she fell unconscious on the ground. Before the people who were present at the spot could take her to a hospital, she had succumbed.
According to a report of News 18, upon receiving information about the incident, Badaun district magistrate Kumar Prashant deputed an administrative official to the spot. The exact cause of the woman's death has not been established yet but it is suspected that she died due to a heart attack. The investigation is underway.
Another incident
In another incident that was reported by the Times of India, a 45-year-old woman collapsed and died while waiting in a queue at a bank to collect the financial assistance given by the government as COVID-19 relief in Telangana's Kamareddy district on Friday. The deceased woman was identified as Nenavath Kamala, a Kannapur resident. Officials suspect that she died due to a heart attack. A case was filed under Section 174 (police to enquire and report on suicide) of the Criminal Procedure Code. The Telangana government had made an announcement stating that it will provide a financial assistance of Rs 1,500 as COVID-19 relief and 12 kg of free rice to the holders of white ration cards during the lockdown period.
